I Rock!
I just facilitated one of the most kickass 3-hour sessions I have ever experienced. I amaze myself, sometimes, with the brilliance that shines through while I'm in this particular aspect of my Genius self. I love witnessing the shifts, the awakenings, the integration and the realignment that happens for my clients. I love seeing the knowing dawn on their faces and the love of self radiate from within them. I love knowing that I was there, I had the questions they needed to hear and they shifted in the most poetically perfect way. I LOVE my healing gifts!

Community
A few years ago, when I officially took leave of the religion in which I was raised, I felt lonely. Leaving a religion that had been a part of me for my whole life - or, a religion of which I had always been a part - meant that I not only left the organization, but also the community, the social structure and many of the people. My life had been about meetings and scriptures and more meetings. My social life had circled around my church. My friends were all in my church. My family members, for the most part, were all in the church. Church in every aspect of my world.
For a long time, after my exit, I felt disassociated and dislocated and I sought a replacement. I wanted friends who had like-minds and with whom I could relate in healthy, non-religious ways. Because I left on my own terms, without any ire or angst or disgust toward the church, I didn't really blend well with the typical ex-Mormons who, for seemingly years after their departure, had a bitter axe to forcefully grind. Because I didn't care what the church (and still don't, for the most part) was doing "wrong" toward all of mankind, I didn't get wrapped up in the indignant tirades that many of them would lead.
And, sadly, because I had relied for all of my life on the words of the prophet, the church leaders, my teachers and my parents to tell me what I was supposed to do and when, I had no idea where to turn or how. I had a difficult time making decisions on my own and even more difficulty deciding what to do with my time, now that I had so much of it on my hand. In this space, I discovered a new place to learn. After having so much of my life committed to religion, when I was asked to commit only two hours each week to learn about being the best me possible, I jumped in with both feet and said, "Absolutely, YES!"
I believed - and still do - the basic principals of the gospel. Treat others as I wish to be treated. Love one another. Follow the ten commandments and be charitable to those around me, etc. Although I left the religious organization, I did not leave behind my values and still adhere to the basic "goodness" with which I was raised.
Although, some things have changed. I now believe that everyone has a right to be happy - no matter their age, race, gender, gender preference, religious beliefs or financial class. I also believe that we live more than one life - that our souls are eternal and return to this earth realm time and again at the soul's discretion to learn whatever it is they want to gain during this life. And I believe everyone is going to heaven.

Along the way, I've discovered that there is community outside of religion. I've discovered there are good people that believe in the same things I do and are not part of any particular religion. I have found that there are people who want the best for this world and believe in heaven and that we are all worthy of love, but have never attended a religious service. I have found a group of friends that believe empowering one another raises all of us to a higher level, together. That when one of us succeeds, all of us succeed. That no one is going to be left behind simply because they have chosen to marry someone of the same gender, or have chosen to not get married at all. I have a group of friends that believe in helping one another to find their genius attributes and to live in that genius is beneficial for the whole world.
I feel blessed to be part of such an amazing community. I feel happy knowing that each new day is a chance to prove to myself and to God that I am Love. I am the woman I was sent here to be.

Showing Up
OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited that I am jumping around for joy. I took a moment to pause in my happy dance to share the good news with you. First, though, let me share a story. (I know. The suspense is killing ya!) :)
There is an amazing space here in Salt Lake called the Tea Grotto, which is a locally-owned, beautifully-fabulous small tea shop. I have known the owner, Rebecca, of this shop for a while now simply because of all the time I have spent there. As her business was growing, she would have time to sit with me and chat and we got to know one another.
I find myself sliding into creative mode when I enter that space. Many times I have gone there for the sole purpose of sipping tea and creating art. She has watched some of the pieces come to life before her and has mentioned several times that she would love to display my art on the walls of the Grotto. I never took her serious and brushed myself off as being "not-an-artist."
Back in August, when I ventured out into the world to make it a go on my own, I had all sorts of brilliant, creative ideas float into my world. One of them happened very organically. I was at the Tea Grotto, doing art and she brushed past me, glanced over my shoulder and said, "Angie, I would really love to see your art up on these walls. Talk to Olivia about it. She's the new coordinator."
This was not a new conversation she and I were having, however something sparked in me this time and I thought, "What the hell do I have to lose?"
Olivia LOVED my art. She is a trained artist, having travelled the world in her training, and she actually said to me, "Your stuff is amazing! I have seen nothing like this." I was speechless. She scheduled me for a showing in January. I gave her my number. She said she would call. She never did.
Fast forward to December...
I have spent the last four weeks in torment wondering why Olivia hasn't called me. Did she lie to me? Is my stuff complete shit? Am I not good enough to show? On and on and on... Heaven forbid I pick up the phone and call. NO! I have to moan and wail and be miserable for a very long time first.
This morning, I called the Grotto.
"Olivia's not in..." (oh surprise) "However, let me give you her home phone number..."
What the...???
Sweating and trembling, I called her, feeling grateful when the voicemail picked up.
Two hours later, my phone rang with a number I didn't recognize. Generally, I don't answer unknown numbers, however something prompted me to do so this time. It was Olivia.
"I am so glad you called me, Angie! I lost that folder that had your number and business card in it. I've been freaking out because I couldn't get a hold of you. I was so hoping you would call me!"
What the...???!
Sooooo... on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 before 3:30 pm, I will be going to the Tea Grotto to hang my art for sale! I cannot believe this. I will be part of the Gallery Strolls here and will have an Artist's Opening Night on January 16, 2009 so buyers can come meet the artist - ME! I would LOVE IT if you are in the Salt Lake area if you would stop by that night especially, or any other time during January, and check out my stuff.
WOW!
This is a preview of some of the stuff you may see there live and in full-size!

Fearing Genius
I discovered something incredible last night...
I arrived quite late to Life Skills because I had chosen in to being in my genius and being available to support a couple friends. When I got to class, I walked in in the middle of them talking about "FEAR."
Spontaneously, Megan channeled a fear exercise. We were asked to face into our worst fear... "What is the absolute worst that could happen... and then, when that happens, what could be the worst thing beyond that?" For a few minutes, Megan took us through the fear gateways until the room was quiet and people were deep in the feeling of fear in their bodies.
I discovered that I had an immensely difficult time conjuring up fears. Megan offered, "So I just went bankrupt. Now what happens? So I just lost the house and I'm homeless. Now what happens?"
Those are fears that I have been facing into every day. However, last night, while basking in the glow of my genius, I realized that I felt solid and whole. Yes, so I went bankrupt. I can do this. What's next? I lost the house? Really? Well I am still alive.
I am getting that living in my genius will save my life because living a life that is run by fear will surely kill me - either by illness or some act of destruction which is attracted to my fear.
I am getting that living in my genius will enliven my life because it takes the charge out of the stories I create to stop myself.
And I finally understood that living in my genius is THE place to go to really FEEL amazing!
